The Saab Manual Boost Controller + Anticipator (MBC+A) addresses some fundamental flaws in the operation of ball-spring MBCs.
A manual boost controller allows for higher than stock boost levels and power and a faster boost response in your Saab. Most manual boost controllers are now ball-spring types, as these make the turbo spool up much faster than the older ‘bleeder’ type controllers. The only downside of the ball-spring types is that they will create boost pressure overshoots in an application where the turbo spools up very fast. And everyone wants fast boost response, so this is a common problem. A ball-spring controller simply operates too late to regulate the boost pressure when the rate of boost response is fast.. The Saab Manual Boost Controller + Anticipator overcomes this fundamental flaw in ball-spring manual boost controllers by directly compensating for what the ball-spring controller cannot do. The Saab Manual Boost Controller + Anticipator applies a regulated pressure to the wastegate actuator as the boost pressure is increasing. This anticipates the actuation of the wastegate actuator. The anticipator pressure is adjusted to pre-pressurize the wastegate actuator. so when the ball-spring MBC starts to flow, its flow can get the wastegate actuator open immediately without delay.

Saab Manual Boost Controller (MBC)
High Quality Air Pressure Regulator (APR) – 0-10psi rated
Throttle Body Tap – this replaces the hose between the throttle body and the Idle Air Control Motor with a pressure tap inserted into the hose for manifold based boost pressure.
Steel Mounting plate and mounting hardware for the MBC and APR
Vacuum Hose – 3 foot hose for the TB tap to MBC, replacement hose to the wastegate actuator, short piece of hose to plug off the BPC (to keep it clean) and hoses to connect the MBC and APR including a “wye” hose barb to connect the MBC and APR.
Zipties (cable ties) to secure the hoses to the barbs. Enough for the whole kit.
